How it works
Choose both cities and the hours you're each usually up. The two bars show the same day lined up in real time, so a moment sits in the same place on both: the gold part is when you're both awake. Your city's day runs from midnight to midnight on the top bar; theirs is the same stretch of time, in their clock.
Times come from each city's official time zone rules, including summer time (daylight saving), for the date you choose. Change the date to a few months ahead to see if anything shifts. Below the bars we also tell you the next date your time difference changes.
Finding a time that works
- Our best time to call is the hour inside your overlap that suits you both most: we prefer evenings, lunchtimes and early mornings over the middle of a working day.
- Keep one fixed call. A regular slot that you both protect is easier than finding a new time every day.
- Watch the clock changes. The UK and Europe change their clocks on different dates from the US, and countries in the southern hemisphere change the other way. For a few weeks a year your gap can grow or shrink by an hour, and a call time that worked can suddenly land in a meeting.
- No overlap? Plan around it. Leave voice notes for them to wake up to, and save live calls for weekends when one of you can stay up late.
